"Toku-sad-su"

Films: Big Man Japan (2007)

Alias: Masaru Daisato (Big Man Japan VI), Big Man Japan IV

Type: Mutant

Location: Civilized Area

Height/Weight: That of large buildings.

Affiliation: Good

Summary: Every city needs a protector, especially the kaiju-infested lands of Japan. We've seen heroes meant to combat this menace...but sometimes, being good just sucks.

History: Throughout Japanese history, there has always been a person to carry the title of Big Man Japan. They are those who can grow to gigantic sizes after taking in a lot of electricity, and dedicate their lives to defeating kaiju. Which brings us to Masaru Daisato, the next in line, yet easily the most disrespected. He's not particularly fit, he constantly causes monumental damage trying to wrangle the kaiju, and sometimes, the monsters attract more sympathy than he does. Also, his grandfather has gone senile and occasionally causes problems while giant. Life just can't be easy for a hero, can it?

Notable Kills: Nothing special.

Final Fate: After nearly getting killed by a Satanic-looking monster not from Japan, an American Super Sentai group known as the Super Justice Team comes out of nowhere to destroy the beast. Masaru can only ponder in confusion and disillusionment as he goes off with them. However, he does find genuine camaraderie with the group later, so it isn't a total downer.

Powers/Abilities: With enough volts of electricity, the Daisato lineage can grow to building size.

Weakness: Anything conventional.

Scariness Factor: 1.5-Try not to be below these guys when they inevitably get knocked down. But do know that the Big Man folks are true heroes at heart, even if they have the same hang-ups as we do. Masaru in particular is rather pitiful, but we still root for him nonetheless.

Trivia: -The ending is supposedly designed to represent the decline of Japan's influence over the world. At the same time, it could also symbolize a willingness to work with other countries and the greater sincerity that comes with it, seeing as how the effects go from passionless factory-standard CGI to handmade suitmation during the ending.

-Apparently, an American remake is in the works...which kind of, you know, defeats the whole point of this film.
